About the Role
Our hiring partner is looking for a high-agency Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability of the platform that moves money and tax data for customers. The systems run on a daily clock: payment files are prepared, submitted to banking partners, and reconciled against receipts every business day.
You will own the infrastructure, observability, and automation that keep those flows dependable and participate in the production monitoring rotation. This is a build-and-operate role with meaningful ownership of the cloud footprint, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and production practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve cloud infrastructure as code across environments.
- Build and maintain safe, repeatable CI/CD pipelines and improve release reversibility.
- Manage environment configuration, secrets, access, networking, connectivity, and secure remote access.
- Own monitoring, dashboards, logging, alerting, and service-level objectives for scheduled money and data workflows.
- Lead incident response and turn postmortems into completed reliability improvements.
- Improve error handling, retries, and recovery paths for batch and third-party integration workflows.
- Participate in the production monitoring rotation and automate manual verification with validation, self-healing jobs, and internal tooling.
- Maintain access controls, audit trails, infrastructure guardrails, patches, and compliance evidence.
Who You Are
- 3 to 7 years of experience in site reliability, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with a major cloud provider, ideally AWS, across compute, networking, storage, and identity.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, logs, metrics, dashboards, and alerting.
- Comfortable writing automation in Python, Bash, C#, TypeScript, or similar.
- Experience being on call and reducing operational load through engineering.
- Strong debugging instincts across distributed systems, scheduled jobs, queues, and third-party integrations.
- High agency, strong communication, and sound judgment around production access and sensitive data.
- Experience working in a high-growth or fast-paced technology environment, with the ability to adapt quickly as teams, products, and priorities evolve.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Florida (Miami preferred) or Ottawa and able to work in office 1 to 2 days per week.
Nice to Haves
- Fintech, payments, banking, or regulated-industry experience.
- Batch payment processing, bank integrations, or reconciliation workflows.
- .NET workloads, containers, managed orchestration, zero-trust access, internal tooling, or AI/LLM automation.
